Focus Column for Trello - Chrome Extension

Last updated: January 27, 2025

1. Introduction

Focus Column for Trello ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to view and manage selected Trello columns in your browser's side panel. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles your data.

By using the Extension, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Authentication Information

When you connect the Extension to your Trello account, we store:

  • Your Trello OAuth authorization token (used to authenticate API requests on your behalf)

2.2 User Preferences

The Extension stores your configuration preferences locally:

  • Selected Trello board ID and name
  • Selected column/list IDs and names
  • Display preferences (theme, zoom level)

2.3 Trello Content

To provide its functionality, the Extension accesses your Trello data:

  • Board names and IDs
  • List/column names and IDs
  • Card information (titles, descriptions, due dates, labels, checklists)

3. How Your Data is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.sync). This means:

  • Your data stays on your device and syncs across your Chrome browsers if you're signed into Chrome
  • We do not operate any servers that store your data
  • We do not have access to your Trello token or any of your Trello data

4. How Your Data is Used

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Authenticate with the Trello API on your behalf
  • Display your selected Trello columns in the side panel
  • Perform actions you initiate (moving cards, editing, archiving, etc.)
  • Remember your preferences between sessions

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third parties.

The only external communication is between the Extension and Trello's official API (api.trello.com) to fetch and update your Trello data. This is required for the Extension to function.

6. Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

  • OAuth 2.0 secure authorization flow for Trello authentication
  • All API communications use HTTPS encryption
  • No remote code execution - all Extension code is bundled locally
  • Minimal permissions - we only request permissions necessary for core functionality

7. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

  • Disconnect: Use the "Disconnect Trello" option in the Extension settings to remove your authorization token and all stored preferences
  • Uninstall: Removing the Extension from Chrome will delete all locally stored data
  • Revoke Access: You can revoke the Extension's access to your Trello account at any time from your Trello Power-Ups settings

8. Children's Privacy

This Extension is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
